Volumen is a brand from Bosnia and Herzegovina which produces furniture of contemporary design, relying on the Modernist tradition. The philosophy of the brand is reflected in contemporary interpretation of traditional values, both in terms of visual language and the essential values that make the foundation of the company. In line with this, we created the brand’s identity.
We created the entire visual identity of the Volumen, which included design of the logotype, website and catalogue, as well as art direction of the photographs. The typographic and understated logotype of simple, almost Brutalist design, highlights the Modernist approach to furniture design. The brand largely pays attention to modularity and functionality. We therefore created a shortened version of the striking logo. The idea of clear and unassuming design corresponds to the aesthetic philosophy of the brand. We paid meticulous attention to the layouts which, in addition to branding, also contain a large quantity of data, technical drawings and photographs. The idea was to create an interesting and dynamic visual whole with a few elements.
The design of the Volumen furniture highlights the tactile aspect of high-quality materials used in its production, so we have consistently stressed this fact. The art direction of the photographs is such that we built an atmosphere that would fully emphasise the reliable design of their pieces of furniture. The visual language of the photographs serves as a support to the recognisability of the brand, creating an ambient balance where the pieces themselves are simultaneously in the forefront and merged with their surroundings.
This resulted in a harmonious whole and a visual narrative which depicts a clear image of the brand. The identity is based on clean forms, typographic playfulness and photography.
