WHAT WE DID:
Redesign of visual identity
Book of graphics standards
Crvena zvezda (commonly referred to as Red Star Belgrade in English) was founded on 4 March 1945. It is the most successful football club in Serbia, having won 34 national championships and 27 national cup trophies. It is the winner of the European Cup and the International Cup in 1991. The most popular club in Serbia, with the largest number of supporters. Crvena zvezda is a club with a strong tradition deeply rooted in all aspects of the country’s sport, social, political, and cultural life.
Crvena zvezda Football Club has had a distinct identity and image since its establishment in 1945. The redefined visual identity is inspired by the legacy, results, successes, titles, fan support, and the club’s development strategy in the coming period. The goal is for the refreshed club identity to be recognizable, effective, and communicative in new media and new times.
The foundations of the identity are the red star and the red and white colours. The club’s crest is iconic, widely recognizable, in line with Zvezda’s tradition as well as the present and future times. The task we were given was to break down all elements of the identity – the crest, logo, typography, colours, and the visual system – and systematically showcase their usage. The crest remains unchanged, and we have chosen the typography which relies on tradition and heritage, a “do-it-yourself” aesthetic based on supporter banners and the spirit of sports. The red and white stripes are the basis of the identity and of the colour code, enriched with traditional blue and gold, as well as shades derived from these colours.
