Our team was responsible for the art direction of visual effects and film campaign. Working on this particular project, we relied on the legacy of retro-futurism and neo-avantgarde, with a view to expanding the narrative universe in which the film takes place by means of the visuals.

The inspiration for this project was derived from the visual legacy of sci-fi movies from the late 1970s and early 1980s. A.I. RISING is a visually expressive film which has presented a major production challenge for the whole team, along with its dominant artistic potential. In some ways, the non-narrative and expressive visual effects represent the subconscious of the film, constantly intertwined with the dramatic aspect of the film.

A.I. RISING remains on the border between a genre and art film and as such it allowed us freedom to explore the visual contrast between totalitarian graphism and software rigidity on the one hand and the biological and organic on the other. In designing the VFX of the film we worked with the animation studios PRIMER and FRIDE which were responsible for their realization and finalization.
